DO NOT USE if you are: - pregnant, have heart disease or high blood pressure, have diabetes, complications such as neuropathy or retinal damage, you wear a pacemaker, history of frostbite, have an open wound, had recent surgery, epilepsy or any other health concerns or risks.
Using an ice bath can dramatically decreases your body core temperature. The immersion in cold water constricts blood vessels and slows the flow of blood around the body, which combined with health complications, can cause your blood pressure to rise and give you a higher chance of cardiac arrest or stroke.
Side effects
The most noticeable side effect of an ice bath is feeling intense cold, but other side effects of staying in an ice bath for too long are: - hypothermia, frostbite, tachycardia (fast heart beat), arrhythmias (abnormal heart beat), allergic and anaphylactic shock.
Our recommendation
Despite the potential side effects and warnings, using an ice bath correctly actually has many health benefits! We will always recommend you begin by spending no more than a few minutes in the ice bath, and slowly working you way up to the recommended time, never push your body beyond its limits.

Yes it does!
The filtration system in the Lumi Thermo CT1™ has a particle filter keeping out any debris or bugs, with an internal Ozone water treatment device, making this the cleanest water possible to enjoy an ice bath.

We recommend leaving your chiller on when the ice bath is not in use, this is so that it can filter the water keeping it fresh.
The chiller itself will turn off when it reaches your desired temperature, making it super energy efficient.
Always switch the chiller unit off during an ice bath session.

It's far better for the environment than using Chlorine!
Ozone quickly breaks down into Oxygen when it makes contact with air. When used within water, again it will breakdown into Oxygen and quickly clean away microbes.

The Ozone generator activates roughly every hour for 5 minutes at a time. This can be adjusted higher and lower depending on requirements.
We recommend the chiller is left on at all times to keep the water moving and the Ozone active.

How do I maintain it, is it like my car AC, and needs to be re-gassed every year or so?
Maintenance purely lies with the filters, cleaning the metal mesh in the chiller, and replacing the particle filter on the outside.
The heat pump system is fully sealed and leak tested, and should never need to be maintained. The main flow and priming pumps have an exceptional lifespan, and are expected to last for more than 10 years of continuous use.

In general, the only aspects that can go wrong are dirt and debris clogging up the filters and eventually passing into the internal systems.
This results in poor flow, and eventually no cooling. Should this happen, you can flush the system with a strong flow of water and later we'll have a cleaning product available for this.
We have a 1 year warranty that covers any manufacturing issues, and we will soon be offering a service plan for our engineers to visit and resolve any issues.
